This is part of the mechanism beneath the light in the Cape Columbine lighthouse.

I went on an outing to Rooiels last Saturday evening. Rather than taking the usual wide vista showing the sun setting over the sea I decided to try and create an illusion of the bushveld sunset with the sun setting in the valley between a wooded hillside and a small mountain.

In reality the mountain is a smallish rock while the trees are a clump of fynbos.

On South African beaches it is not at all uncommon to see African women venturing into the water in their underwear.
