Welcome to the blogosphere

Rebekka Guðleifsdóttir, Flickr‘s most popular photographer, now has her own web site and blog. She has posted a number of the photographs that she shot for a Toyota advertising campaign, work she got on the strength of her body of work on Flickr where she is known as _rebekka.

Hout Bay

Hout Bay

This is Hout Bay on the western coast of the Cape Peninsula, south of Cape Town. This image was taken from the lookout point on Chapman’s Peak Drive and is a panoramic image created from 66 individual photographs and stitched together using AutoStitch. You can see a larger version of the photograph here, but unfortunately the full sized image is far to large to display on the web.

Moo MiniCards

Moo Cards

My sample pack of 10 MiniCards from Moo.com arrived the other day. These little cards are really nice, the printing is good, the cards have a beautifully silky matt finish and the fact that you can have a different design on each card is brilliant.

Loop the Loop

Flying Lions

Three Harvards of the Flying Lions complete a loop during their performance at the AAD2006 air show held at Ysterplaat AFB this past weekend.

Sad News

Sasol Tigers - December 2004

I’m saddened to hear of the death of another Sasol Tigers pilot, who crashed into Table Bay this afternoon, during a practice session for the AAD air show this weekend. This is particularly sad as it is less than a year since another of the team crashed during a show, resulting in the death of the pilot and passenger.

Not a great photo, focus-wise, but I love the line of descending heights.

Ponds

Ponds

These ponds are on the old du Toit’s Kloof pass road, just above the tunnel.  See the location here on Google Maps.

DUTOITSKLOOFTONNEL

DUTOITSKLOOFTONNEL

A short tunnel on the old du Toit’s Kloof pass road. This road used to be on the main route but has been replaced by the 3.9km Huguenot Toll Tunnel, that shortens the route by 11km and 15 to 26 minutes.

Fuzzy

Fuzzy

On Sunday morning I was photographing dew drops on the grass when this fuzzy little fellow came marching along, right past my lens. He paused for his portrait before continuing on his way.
