Thanks Riana. Most of them were taken with my Canon 300D and a Sigma 70-300mm lens. For this shot however I brought out the big guns, my Canon Powershot A540 compact. The scary thing is that it is my favourite shot of the day. Focusing is pretty easy, just lock on to the aircraft and follow them through their manoeuvres and wait until you can snap the shot you want. I have to admit, it takes a bit of practice.
My name is Bernardo Malfitano. I’m an engineer at Boeing, and sometimes I give talks (at air museums, conferences, air shows, and occasionally inside Boeing) about various topics. Soon, I’m planning to give a talk about aerobatics. In one of my slides, I would like to include your photo of the three airplanes doing a loop.
Very nice. I should have gone 🙂 Next time 🙂
Wow- I am so impressed with all your aviation photos. I was there at the airshow too and its really difficult. The composition is really good.
What lens did you use and how did you focus so quickly?

Dear Steve,

I will credit you as “Photo of three-airplane loop, © Steve Crane, reproduced with permission”, followed by the URL of this page.
The image will be small, less than 25% of the size of the slide. Still, I thought I would give you a heads-up.
If you object to my use of your image or to how I credit you, please let me know.
Thank you!
Bernardo
You’re welcome to use it. Thanks for letting me know.
