The British man believed to be responsible for the Table Mountain fire that destroyed large tracts of vegetation and claimed the life of another tourist earlier this year appeared in court today.
The Directorate of Public Prosecutions announced that prosecution on charges of culpable homicide and contravening the National Veld Forest Fire Act would go forward, despite the defence’s request for the charges to be withdrawn. The case has been postponed until next Friday when a trial date will be set.
