The phenomenon of apparent close proximity of heavenly bodies is called a conjunction. Tonight there was a rare treat, as Jupiter and Venus both appeared in close proximity to the moon.
I saw that too last night and tried taking photos but my little Sony can’t capture it like yours did (presuming with a zoom lens). I wondered if they were planets, they were too bright to be stars, thanks for confirming.
Yeah, this was at 300mm.
