Framed

Framed

A few weekends ago a group of Cape Town Flickrites had a meet-up at Muratie Wine Estate. Part of the old cellar building is used as a gallery and I took this shot there, using the archway as a frame.

Met Ys Ya

The owner of this fishing boat must be a brandy lover as any South African that watches TV will recognise the slogan from the Klipdrift TV advert.

On the road near Malmesbury. Shot with my compact while driving, hence the reflections from the windscreen.

Kalenchoe

Kalenchoe

A friend lent me his set of Kenko extension tubes to try out so I stuck my 50mm f/1.8 on them and took a few shots of this pot plant on our kitchen windowsill. Some practice is needed but the result certainly seems better than I’ve achieved with close-up filters. I’ve yet to try them with my 70-300 lens to see what kinds of insane magnification I can achieve. The flower in this shot is no more than 1cm across.

The dog in front was in heat and whenever we saw her she had a number of suitors vying for her attention.

Paternoster Morning

Paternoster Morning

I have been on leave for the past two weeks and spent part of the time on the West Coast with no access to a computer or the Internet, other than via my cell phone so I have been lax in posting but I will make up for that by posting some of the photos I took while on holiday, like this one, taken shortly after sunrise on the beach at Paternoster.

Dome Cloud

Dome Cloud

I spotted this cloud, probably lenticular, over the Hottentots-Holland mountains on Monday afternoon.

This photograph is dedicated to Coyote100, a friend who lost the fight with cystic fibrosis this morning. Dave, I’ll miss you man.
